The next-gen club sound experience

The DJM-A9 delivers a next-level club sound experience thanks to extensive development and fine-tuning of previous technologies, combined with new components. Crystal-clear and high-resolution sound is achieved through the use of ESS Technology’s 32-bit high-quality A/D converters in the channel input section, and 32-bit high-quality D/A converters in the master and booth output sections. With these advanced converters, the sound from the booth monitors is identical to what the crowd hears on the dance floor. Additionally, the microphone input and headphone outputs have been optimised with carefully selected new parts and design for improved sound quality.

Playability revolutionised

The DJM-A9 mixer has been designed with enhanced playability to provide DJs with the ultimate experience. The EQ knobs have increased spacing, allowing you to comfortably twist your fingers and make precise adjustments. The channel section is equipped with high-grade, bright LEDs that provide a clear visual representation of sound levels. The frequency response of the isolators has been optimised to suit the latest music production trends, enabling DJs to perform with greater dynamism. The channel faders have also been upgraded with higher quality, slicker faders compared to the DJM-900NXS2, while the third-generation MAGVEL FADER crossfader offers smooth mixing and stable scratching.

Sound Color FX with world’s first Center Lock knob

The DJM-A9 comes with a new feature called the Center Lock, which revolutionises the use of Sound Color FX. Each knob stops turning when it reaches the centre position, thanks to the Center Lock feature. This allows you to twist the knob as fast as you like and take the effect to its maximum or minimum without the risk of going too far and switching to the opposite parameter. This feature helps you to keep your mixes in check and avoid mistakes during your performances. When you turn off Center Lock, the Sound Color FX knobs work like those on the DJM-900NXS2. Get ready to elevate your mixes to a new level of precision and control with the world’s first Center Lock knob for Sound Color FX.

Advanced Beat FX feature

The DJM-A9’s advanced Beat FX feature a new colour display that provides a quick and accurate view of the selected effect’s status. The display also includes lighting that corresponds with the X-Pad’s horizontal layout, enabling more intuitive control through simple finger sliding. The X-Pad enables you to change the Echo and Ping Pong effects, creating a unique analogue tape-style sound.

With 14 total Beat FX, including three new ones (Mobius, Triplet Filter, and Triplet Roll), you can add extra variation to your performances. The channel selector is now a dedicated button, allowing you to apply effects quickly to your chosen channel. Experience the next level of creativity with the DJM-A9’s advanced Beat FX.

Advanced mic section

The DJM-A9 features an advanced mic section with a phantom powered input, allowing you to connect high-quality condenser microphones directly to the mixer, a first in the DJ mixer industry. In addition, there are three new dedicated microphone effects (Echo, Pitch, Megaphone) with a built-in reverb effect that allows you to change the sound of your voice and energise the crowd with your vocals.

The newly added Push To Talk button makes it easy to turn the mic input on or off when you need to address the audience, and the audio from the mic can be excluded from the recording output if desired. With these new features, you can bring your vocal performance to the next level and take full control of your mix.

Dual USB Type-B and Type-C ports

With dual USB Type-B and Type-C ports (two of each), the DJM-A9 allows you to connect two different PC/Mac systems simultaneously, making transitions between DJs a breeze and enabling easy back-to-back sets. Additionally, the Bluetooth® input can be routed to any channel on the mixer, allowing you to wirelessly drop audio tracks from other devices such as smartphones and incorporate all of the mixer’s features and effects to enhance your sound.

The Multi I/O section features an independent channel selector, allowing you to use external effects separately from Beat FX for true send capabilities. This means you can route the affected sound from an external unit like an RMX-1000 or delay pedal to a separate channel instead of the channel it came from. Whether you’re collaborating with other DJs or incorporating external effects into your performance, the DJM-A9 has the connectivity options you need for seamless transitions and ultimate creative flexibility.

Dual independent headphone outputs and booth EQ

Experience the flexibility of monitoring the channels of your choice by plugging in your headphones at the same time as another DJ. With individual cue buttons, volume knobs, and mix balance knobs for each set of headphones, it’s effortless for two DJs to cue up tracks during changeovers or back-to-back sets. Additionally, the 2-band booth EQ allows you to adjust the high and low frequencies to match the mood in the booth and complement the master output, creating a cohesive atmosphere on the dancefloor.

New Stagehand app compatibility and built-in Sound Check function

The DJM-A9 is the ultimate DJ mixer for front of house teams. With compatibility with Stagehand, the industry-first PRO DJ LINK remote management app, an engineer can keep an eye on the mixer’s controls and the DJ’s use of them using an iPad wirelessly connected to the mixer via a LAN router (available separately). This makes it easier to maximise the sound system’s settings and run a smoother, more impactful show without interrupting the DJ’s performance or even entering the booth. Bluetooth® input

Thanks to a Bluetooth® input which you can route to any channel on the DJM-A9, you can wirelessly drop audio tracks into your sets from other devices such as smartphones and use all the mixer’s features and effects to change the sound.

Dual USB ports

Connect 2 different PC/Mac systems at the same time thanks to the dual USB Type-B and USB Type-C ports (there are 2 of each) for seamless transitions between DJs and easy back-to-back sets.

Phantom powered input

The phantom powered input means you can connect a high-quality condenser mic directly to the DJM-A9, a feature never seen before on a DJ mixer.

CENTER LOCK switch

When you turn Center Lock off, the Sound Color FX knobs work in the same way as those on the DJM-900NXS2.

Microphone effects

There are 3 new microphone effects:

Echo: Outputs a delay sound several times while attenuating it to add an echo effect.
Pitch: Changes the pitch of the microphone sound.
Megaphone: Changes the microphone sound so it sounds like you’re talking through a megaphone.

Sound Color FX

Turn on the brand-new Center Lock feature and, when you’re using the popular Sound Color FX, each knob will stop turning when you reach the center position.

Dedicated reverb effect

In addition to microphone effects, there’s also a dedicated reverb effect for the mic. You can use this to change the sound of your voice and hype up the crowd with your vocals.

Dual independent headphone outputs

Plug in your headphones at the same time as another DJ and enjoy the freedom to monitor the channels you want to. With separate cue buttons, volume knobs, and mix balance knobs for each set of headphones, it’s easy for 2 DJs to cue up tracks during changeovers and back-to-back sets.

Push To Talk function (MIC)

The mic input is turned on only while the button is pressed, making it easy to use the mic while you’re DJing.

Crossfader

With the third-generation MAGVEL FADER crossfader, you can enjoy rapid and stable scratching.

Channel fader

With higher quality, slicker channel faders than the DJM-900NXS2, you can enjoy silk-smooth mixing.

Channel level indicator

Bright LEDs in the channel section make it easier than ever to get a visual grasp on sound levels.

Multi I/O section

The Multi I/O section has an independent channel selector so external effects can be used separately from Beat FX, giving the DJM-A9 true send capabilities. This means you can route the effected sound from an external unit such as an RMX-1000 or a delay pedal to a separate channel instead of the channel it came from.

Screen display and X-PAD (Beat FX)

A new color display helps you to quickly and accurately understand the status of the selected effect, and it features lighting that corresponds to the X-Pad’s horizontal arrangement, enabling more intuitive control with a simple finger slide.

2-band booth EQ

With the 2-band booth EQ, you can change the high and low frequencies to complement the master output and match the mood in the booth to the feeling on the dancefloor.

Beat FX

within the 14 total Beat FX, there are 3 new ones you can use to add extra variation to your performances:

Mobius: Changes the frequency of the oscillator to constantly rise or fall in time with the beat.
Triplet Filter: Changes the cut-off frequency cyclically for the filter according to the beat (based on 3 beats).
Triplet Roll: Outputs the recorded sound repeatedly according to the specified beat fraction (based on 3 beats).

The channel selector is now a dedicated button, enabling you to quickly apply effects to your chosen channel.

Lockable power cord
